With yet another snowstorm due to arrive tomorrow, I thought I'd enjoy the sunshine and relatively mild temperatures by taking a long walk downtown.
And I couldn't resist taking a few photos of these trees, which are scattered throughout this downtown graveyard. I'm not sure what they're called. Corkscrew Hazel perhaps? Whatever the name, they've always impressed me as the perfect graveyard trees. Whoever was responsible for planting them clearly had the same thought. And they're at their most striking in the winter when they stand out in stark contrast to the snow and blue sky. Sadly, once spring arrives and the larger surrounding trees leaf out, their twisted little branches are barely noticeable.
