New Star Trek Movie Trailer & New Enterprise Models

Here is an even bigger glimpse of the upcoming and much anticipated Star Trek movie directed by JJ Abrams. This is the newest trailer for the movie, which hits theaters in just two short months on May 8, 2009.



I am not really believing all the hype about this not being a Star Trek movie for Trekkies, seeing Captain Kirk take the helm of the enterprise for the first time is pretty exciting for this Trekkie!

New Models of the Star Trek Enterprise

Earlier this afternoon we posted the new full length trailer for the highly anticipated JJ Abrams revamp of Star Trek. It looks like today is your lucky day, because we’ve got an amazing photo gallery full of Trekkie treasures. If you live near the Arclight theater located in Los Angeles, California you can view three special edition models of the USS Enterprise that were created by several artists from all over the world. Each replica is 34 inches long and was cast from the 3D digital models for the film by Industrial Light & Magic. New Star Trek Trailer

The Super Bowl is, of course, known for its commercials, but especially exciting for me are the movie trailer commercials! I've already reviewed the exciting GI Joe Movie Trailer and now, I am pleased to bring you a new Star Trek Trailer!

I am a Trekkie at heart. I grew up watching the original series (well, reruns of the original series) and am proud to say that I can tell you which episode it is within the first 10 seconds of airtime. I am also a huge JJ Abrams fan, so bringing the two together is a match made in my Sci Fi Geek Heaven!

In the first trailers, we see Kirk and Spock and glimpses of Scottie, Sulu and Ahura. In this new trailer launched today, we meet Bones! Just makes you wonder what he is going to tell Jim he "is not" in this movie! And for your Trekkie viewing pleasure here you go:

Star Trek Movie Update

I have seen some more updates on the web this week regarding the new Star Trek movie, which is only a little over 1 year away! For Trekkie & Sci Fi fans like myself, that is a long wait, but according to Leonard Nimoy, "it will be worth the wait"!!

Earlier this week, Screen Rant posted a great article featuring 10 facts about the new Star Trek film:

1. The budget on the film is far below $200MM.

2. The film will be rated PG-13.

3. The release date was pushed back to summer '09 because Paramount really wants it to be a summer blockbuster.

4. The intent was to re-invent the Star Trek franchise, and that is why they went all the way back to start at the beginning.

5. The script was written with Leonard Nimoy in mind. Nimoy read the script and liked it. It seems he's so pivotal to the story that they would have had a big problem if he hadn't liked it.

As for a Star Trek costume update, unfortunately there are not any new Star Trek costumes being made this year, but hopefully we will hear something for next year, and hopefully some new Star Trek uniforms will be available in time for the new movies release next May. J.J. Abrams has released a new website in relation to the new Star Trek movie that is slated to be released Christmas Day. The web site appears to be live cams filming the construction of the USS Enterprise.
