It's comforting to see a scarecrow sharing house space with Christmas lights. Even a smiley-happy scarecrow. I encountered this guy lounging on a balcony during a Boxing Day walk.

scarecrows for Christmas
It's comforting to see a scarecrow sharing house space with Christmas lights. Even a smiley-happy scarecrow. I encountered this guy lounging on a balcony during a Boxing Day walk.

scare-less crows
Once again this year, I took in a local scarecrow festival. And once again, no self-respecting crow could have possibly been scared. Probably not even a little nervous.

the great scarecrow festival
Time once again for the Great Scarecrow Festival. Hundreds of scarecrows turned up for the event this year.
Some old.
Some new.
Some cute.
Some ironic.
And some quite impressive.
No word on whether the crows were actually scared.

joe's scarecrow village

No summer is complete without a visit to Joe's Scarecrow Village. The scarecrows reside in a field beside the road in Cap Lemoine, Cape Breton. And this year, I was lucky enough to attend a scarecrow wedding.

The whole village turned out for the event.
The young.
The old.
Even Frankenstein's monster made an appearance, straight from his shift at the steel plant.

not a crow in sight
Mahone Bay held its annual Scarecrow Festival this weekend. A few of the scarecrows scattered through the town had a decidedly sinister appearance, but others . . . hmmm. No self-respecting crow would have stayed away long.
