BHG had a great idea for suspending a jack-o-lantern pumpkin by wire from a Shepherd's crook. I think it looks lovely.I would need to do some testing for kinds of wire, how best to suspend the pumpkin, etc -- but this seems like the perfect way to use pumpkin lanterns as ambient lighting around an outdoor party.
How fortuitous - my wedding is outside, as is the reception.
