One of the joys of mid-summer is the appearance on newsstands of the first fall and Halloween magazine issues. Each year at this time, I look a little more closely at the magazine racks, watching for that first flash of orange. As the season progresses, I become more discerning. But in these early days, I'll snap up anything with a pumpkin on the cover.
Country Sampler is not a magazine I typically buy. It's more catalogue than magazine and most of its contents are not within my budget. But it's fun to look at the pictures. Soak up the atmosphere. Find inspiration. And try to think up ways to re-create some of this by cobbling together whatever I can find lying around the house.
