1. How did you come up with your blog title OR what does it mean?
I actually started the blog on a whim because the title got stuck in my head -- I find myself constantly looking for 'creepy cupcakes' on google, because making cupcakes is kind of a hobby for me. In context of the blog, the meaning is kind of stretched - I wanted something that brought up warm memories of home (cupcakes), while not giving anyone the delusion that I'm your average homemaker (creepy) - I like my Martha Stewart mixed with a touch of Maila Nurmi, thank-you.
2. What are your general goals for blogging?
I'm trying to create something I've been searching for. My goal is that my blog is the one I want to read most each day; that all my favorite things are archived here, and that it's either interesting or informative about the things that I like.
3. Do people “in your real life” know that you blog and do they comment on your blog OR is it largely anonymous?
Largely "anonymous" (term loosely used - several of my readers are 'friends' in my mind at this point), because I'm easily embarrassed by the things I do. People I know have ways to find it if they go looking, but I don't give it out. One of my favorite coworkers visits regularly, has commented at least once, I think -- or maybe it's just that she comes by and talks to me about what I wrote (which is awesome). :)
How often do you post (x per week)?
I try to post every day, but it doesn't really work out like that and I often post less.
4. How often do you read other blogs (x per week)?
Pretty much daily. I use google reader to at least skim everything at blogs I like/my readers' blogs, but there are several of my blogger friends whose posts I seek out to make sure I didn't miss anything awesome.
5. How do you select blogs to read (do you prefer blogs that focus on certain topics or do you choose by tone or…?)
Well, I subscribe to just about any Halloween blog I come across, so if something interesting comes up I don't miss out. Baking, cooking, and crafting blogs are another big favorite of mine, but I'm a little more selective there. Any time I run across a cool person or unexpected blog theme that catches my fancy (costuming, tatting, etc) I add it to the list.
6. Do you have any plans to copy your blog entries in any other format, 0r do you think that one day, you’ll just delete it all?
Lately I've been toying with starting a full site - I want to create something more accessible since I post about so many variations on the "Halloween homemaking" theme. But then again - maybe one day I'll just cancel it. I'm kind of fickle.
7. What are the things you like best about blogging?
Meeting other people that share my interests. Hopefully posting the occasional topic that peopel appreciate.
8. What are the things you don’t like about blogging?
Not being sure if anything I write is actually helpful or interesting to people. Worrying that I'm just talking to myself, like it's some sick, ego-petting project I'm just addicted to.
9. How do you handle comments?
Comments are the reason I can't stop doing this. I love hearing people's opinions on what I write; it makes me feel better about my creepiness.
10. Do you have any burning thoughts to share on blog etiquette?
Not really... maybe be sure to comment on things you like, or make polite suggestions when you don't? And never, ever spam people's comments, it's just rude? I'm a pretty laid back blogger.
11. Any desired blog features?
Hmm... the ability to 'tout' really cool stuff I see on other blogs that I read (from my blog), maybe even provide a little thumbnail, without having to make it a full blog entry.
12. Have you suffered blog addiction?
Maybe? I do post a lot.
Stolen from Mister Macabre's Hallowe'en Cerebrations.
