Earlier this year, I started saving various interestingly-shaped condiment jars to use in the fall as Halloween jars. Reasoning that, come October, I would have a vast and eclectic collection of said jars and would not have to go out and purchase any. Always an important consideration for me.
However, I seem to have grossly underestimated my condiment consumption. Because here it is, September 1st, and I have exactly one jar ready for Halloweenizing. One. Clearly, the time has come for decisive action. So, in honour of Halloween jars everywhere and in honour of the Earl of Sandwich for his contribution to edible creativity, I hereby declare September: Sandwich Month. A month of countless customized creations composed of collected condiments. And whatever else happens to be in the fridge. Horseradish. Curry paste. Red pepper jelly. Honey. Various types of mustard. For the love of Halloween, it all must go. Soon. Pass the mayo.
