Disembodied Spirits

"Oft in the silence of the night, When the lonely moon rides high, When wintry winds are whistling, And we hear the owl's shrill cry, In the quiet, dusky chamber, By the flickering firelight, Rising up between two sleepers, Comes a spirit all in white."

Surely not what Louisa May Alcott had envisioned when she wrote the poem, Our Little Ghost, but her playful words have inspired me to create this little spirit none the less.

Ghostie Boo
is one of many pieces in various stages of completion inhabiting my studio. It is always at this time of year when I feel a disconnect as I struggle with that disembodied voice of what I want to be doing and what I should be doing. I really want to hide away in my studio, putting the final details on all the little characters that have been waiting oh so patiently on the shelf. But for now the needs of the day have taken center stage. So the piles of party hats and spools of garland will just have to dwell in the corner of my studio a little longer while I figure out a way to have it all.
